Harvest

Our harvest festival assembly takes place on Thursday 10th October and will be presented by children in Mrs Rhodes’ class. Parents of the children involved are invited to come to watch the assembly at 9.00am.

We would like to support the Black Country Food Bank again this year with donations of food from our harvest festival. The Black Country Foodbank helps vulnerable individuals and families in crisis through the provision of three days nutritionally-balanced emergency food supplies while a long-term solution is developed. The services they provide have an enormous impact on the people who use them, giving them important breathing space at a time of great need and stress. In 2012, they were able to provide food for over 12000 people.

All offers of food for the charity are gratefully received. In order to ensure they have an adequate supply and range of food, they have asked if we could provide any of the following:

Food: milk (uht or powder, preferably semi-skimmed),fruit juice (carton long life), pasta / cooking sauces. fruit squash, tinned rice/sponge pudding, tinned tomatoes, cereal (preferably non-sugared), pasta/rice/cous cous (500g / 1kg), tinned vegetables, tinned soup, tea bags (40’s/80’s), coffee (small), potato (instant mash or tinned), tinned meat/fish, baby foods / milk, tinned fruit (in juice preferably) sugar (500g / 1kg), biscuits, crackers, crispbreads, healthy snacks (raisins, apricots etc).

Please ensure that your donations are still in date as food past its use-by or best-before date cannot be given to families in need.

Non –Food: can opener, wash bag, soap / shower gel / bubble bath, shampoo, deodorant
anti-bac hand gel, tooth brush / toothpaste, children’s toothbrush/paste, flannel / sponge, tissues (handy/handbag packs), nappies (all sizes), baby wipes, baby lotion, sanitary towels (not tampons), toilet roll, shaving gel / foam (not razors).

We will be accepting any donations from Monday 7th October until they are collected by the Food Bank on the afternoon of Thursday 10th October and hope that you will be able to offer your support to this worthy cause.
